I'm (slowly) fading away.
I got weighed and measured at the gym this morning. 1kg and a total of 9.5cm have gone bye byes =D I wasn't over the moon about the result as I'd been hoping for something more, but considering how badly I've been eating and the fact I didn't go to the gym at all last week, I actually did ok.

Horror Films
Ok time for you movie buffs to strut your stuff. Next week I have a presentation and essay to do for my cinema studies class. The film genre for the week is Horror films. Now since I don't actually like/watch horror films I need a bit of assistance.
I've decided to focus my presentation on the way women are portrayed in horror films. In particular I'm looking at comparing the concept of the monstrous feminine with the damsel in distress portrayals.
Pretty much what I'm asking you guys to do is to suggest some possible films that I could use as examples to explore these ideas. I'll come back later and post a bit more by what I mean about the monstrous feminine and such but I actually have to do the reading about it first :P

Chick Flicks Ahoy!
I just pre ordered the most fantastic dvd pack someone could think up for a girl. We are talking 8 chick flicks, a pretty pink makeup case (that's really what sold it for me), and some makeup! Only problem is, I don't get it until May =(

Thing's to do while the boy's away. Part 1
-Dust off the old Pride and Prejudice DVD (BBC of course)
-Watch 'Memoirs of a Geisha'. It's an alright movie apart from the fact that almost the entire cast is Chinese.... *rolls eyes* trust Hollywood to do that :-P
-Watch 'Stick It' (by the writer of 'Bring it On') its not a bad movie, ok so no Citizen Kane but its lots of fun. Oh and Wei Wei's routine at the end is a cack-up
and once I found out I'd finally been paid after a month and a half (bureaucracy grrr) issssssss SHOPPING! Ok so I really didn't spend that much... but picked up some nice stuff. I got a couple of DVD's 'Labyrinth' and 'A History of Violence', and went to Minotaur and picked up 'Marvlel 1602'
hmm what to watch now.......

Alone in Adelaide...
So what's the deal, huh? I finally get back on the internets here in lil' ol' 'Laide, and no one's bloody online! Honestly, sometimes you people...
Otherwise, had a good night, seeing Maire, Bonnie, Jess and Toyah (and several of Toyah's friends) at the Fringe opening party. Much fun (and poking of Bonnie) was had.
I hope the REST of you all had decent evenings. They better have been seeing as none of you are around to keep me company. :o(

Let's see how your innocence pays off...
Right!
A friend of mine sent me this, and it's quite simple - you read through the list of offences that will be in the first comment to this post (just so it doesn't take over the front page), and then add up the fines that you receive. Then post what you got in the form of "My fine is $....". You don't have to say which fines you got, just your overall amount.
Maximum fine is $1,110.60
My fine is $180.50
You can also send this out as an email to your friends...

I laugh at fatalism and just call it 'life'
Y'know, I really don't think I can deal with 'the other place' anymore. It's just getting too much.
It really seems that I'm out-numbered, ignored, laughed at, and seen simply as a nuisance by so many. Oh, they may say that they value discussion, but many of them don't. The vocal ones are all rallying behind the committee (mainly because most of them are either on it or would rather like to be), and everything I seem to do is met with not-quite-hostility, but certainly not happiness.
What's hardest, is that none of my esteemed opposition are actually properly *reading* what it is I post, or in fact what anyone who is in disagreeance with them writes. There have been so many instances where they ask questions that have already been distinctly answered, or they have so laughably misread what is on the page that it's all you can do not to slap them about the head.
Disco sent me a lovely, 6-word PM this morning, and that was so very heartening to receive. But it's not a lack of support - you have all been very good at keeping me going - but the lack of effort on the opposition's part to actually see what our points are.
If nothing I do has any actual effect, is it worth it? (I will remind you that we don't live in season 2 of Angel, so no quoting that at me :oP )

I am chocolate on chocolate
I got this email and well, I enjoy doing stupid things like this. Not sure I agree that this one is very accurate, but anyhoo, here it is.
Now don't cheat on this one, go with the first dessert you choose!!! If all of the desserts listed below were sitting in front of you, which would you choose (sorry, you can only pick one!) Trust me....this is very accurate.
Pick your dessert, and then look to see what psychiatrists think about you.
Here are your choices:
1. Angel Food Cake
2. Brownies
3. Lemon Meringue
4. Vanilla Cake With Chocolate Icing
5. Strawberry Short Cake
6. Chocolate on Chocolate
7. Ice Cream
8. Carrot Cake
No, you can't change your mind once you scroll down,
so think carefully what your choice will be..............
OK - Now that you've made your choice this is what
the research says about you...
SCROLL DOWN---No Cheating
1. ANGEL FOOD CAKE -- Sweet, loving, cuddly. You love all warm and fuzzy items. A little nutty at times. Sometimes you need an ice cream cone at the end of the day. Others perceive you as being childlike and immature at times.
2. BROWNIES --You are adventurous, love, new
ideas, and are a champion of underdogs and a
slayer of dragons. When tempers flare up you
whip out your saber. You are always the
oddball with a unique sense of humor and
direction. You tend to be very loyal.
3. LEMON MERINGUE - - Smooth, sexy, &
articulate with your hands, you are an
excellent after-dinner speaker and a good
teacher. But don't try to walk and chew gum
at the same time. A bit of a diva at times,
but you have many friends.
4. VANILLA CAKE WITH CHOCOLATE ICING --
Fun-loving, sassy, humorous, not very
grounded in life; very indecisive and lack
motivation. Everyone enjoys being around you,
but you are a practical joker. Others should
be cautious in making you mad. However, you
are a friend for life
5. STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE -- Romantic,warm,
loving. You care about other people, can be
counted on in a pinch and expect the same in
return. Intuitively keen. Can be very
emotional.
6. CHOCOLATE ON CHOCOLATE -- Sexy; always
ready to give and receive. Very creative,
adventurous, ambitious, and passionate. You
can appear to have a cold exterior but are
warm on the inside. Not afraid to take
chances. Will not settle for anything average
in life. Love to
laugh.
7. ICE CREAM -- You like sports, whether it
be baseball, football, basketball, or soccer.
If you could, you would like to participate,
but you enjoy watching sports. You don't like
to give up
the remote control. You tend to be
self-centered and high maintenance.
8. CARROT CAKE -- You are a very fun loving
person, who likes to laugh. You are fun to be
with. People like to hang out with you. You
are a very warm hearted person and a little
quirky at times. You have many loyal friends.

Just blogging in to say hi =p
My first post here. Yay! Are you all looking forward to some seriously witty and insightful reading? Well if you are, you will be thoroughly disappointed. I am rarely witty and I am never insightful.
What you will find here however is zombies. Dancing zombies. Enjoy =D

El primer poste verdadero.
So, we're here. We have a name! We have 5 contributors thus far, and hopefully several more on the way.
We've gone for a 'blue' feel for the page, given that blue is both my favourite colour and also superbly relaxing, so there should be no stress. Pretty soon, I'll also be expanding the sidebars to include more funky stuff. Currently there's a feed to one of the strangest yet loveable webcomics I know, xkcd.com. Have a look their way, if you have a little spare time. :o) I may add more feeds to webcomics, or perhaps rotate them semi-regularly. We'll see.
So, this thread is just a little housekeeping. I know we're s'posed to be avoiding politics, but I wanted to put a few guidelines down early. :oP They're not about stifling anyone, but more just to keep a kind of standard style for this blog, so that outsiders can come in and enjoy it.
- Mainly, when you create a post, I ask that we all put just a little effort in to doing so. Not a huge amount, mind. ;o) When you're commenting, pretty much anything goes, but just to keep things easy to follow, when posting, just check your spelling, punctuation and grammar to the best of your abilities. :o) I'm not gonna be anal about it and tell you off, it'd just be nice if we all tried. Can you tell I'm the son of an English teacher? ;o)
- Anything goes, in regards to post topics. Obviously, don't go too far (and you *all* know where too far is :oP ), but we're here to interest each other, and to provoke thought (gasp!) and - crazy as it is - sometimes simply make each other smile. :o) So feel free to be wacky and zany, or thought-provoking and interesting, or heartfelt and emotional. Heck, if you like, try being all of them! Photo posts are cool, but make sure you don't break the dimensions of the blog, and if you do, go back and edit your post so that you don't anymore. :oP
- Try and keep replies to each post in the comments, rather than creating a new post just to reply. Blogger looks pretty ugly if you just do small posts replying to previous small posts. :o) That said, if what someone posts starts an idea for your own post, by all means, create one and reference back to it. If you've only got a couple of sentences to write, though, then probably just comment it. :o)
- Just be happy. And rock on.
I'm sure we're all going to get along just fine...
